Physical Therapy Services for Children

Physical Therapy (PT) helps children improve their ability to move from one place to another by improving the mobility of joints and by increasing strength, balance, and coordination. Physical Therapists (PTs) also evaluate a child’s use of equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers within various settings to find ways to increase participation in daily activities. PTs can also assist with acquiring orthotics on an as-needed basis.

Indicators Your Child May Need Pediatric Physical Therapy

There are six major indicators that can determine whether Thrive SPC Physical Therapy services would benefit your child’s physical development:

  • Diagnosis such as cerebral palsy (CP), cystic fibrosis (CF), and muscular dystrophy (MD)
  • Diagnosis of torticollis or suspected birth injury
  • Delays with motor milestones such as rolling, sitting, crawling, or ambulating
  • Difficulties with coordination or balance
  • Extreme spasticity or weakness
  • New adaptive stroller, wheelchair, standing frame, or walker
