Occupational Therapy Services for Children

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps medically fragile or developmentally delayed children achieve independence by treating developing self-care skills such as dressing, bathing, and grooming. Children who have difficulty with joint movement, coordination, balance, sensory issues, and the use of their hands or have difficulty feeding, chewing and swallowing problems can also benefit from OT.

Signs Your Child May Need Pediatric Occupational Therapy

There are five major indicators that can determine whether your child would benefit from Thrive SPC Occupational Therapy:

  • Autism
  • Sensory processing difficulties: hypo or hypersensitivity that limits engaging in age-appropriate activities
  • Challenges with cognitive or developmental delays
  • Delays in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) independence such as dressing, hygiene routine, transfers, feeding
  • New medical or transfer equipment
