Kimberly Jones is the Location Director of Visits and Therapy in Thrive SPC’s Fort Worth, Texas office. Discover more about Kimberly’s fascinating career and what led her to come to Thrive SPC.
Kimberly’s first career was in real estate. However, one day at a church retreat, she met a woman who was the vice president of a pediatric home health agency, who, months later, asked her to manage an outpatient clinic for pediatric patients. So Kimberly met with the woman to tour the outpatient clinic, where she witnessed a sweet moment between a therapist dressed in a Superman cape and foam sword playing with a patient.
From that moment on, Kimberly knew she wanted to pursue a career in pediatric home care. She started as a clinic manager and eventually joined Thrive SPC as a Location Director for Visits & Therapy. “I never looked back,” Kimberly says. “I have fallen in love with it. I love it, love it, love it. And I hope I don’t ever have to do anything else.”
Along with nursing services, Thrive SPC provides Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy for medically fragile children. Kimberly believes that when nurses and therapists collaborate, they have even more opportunities to provide the highest quality of care for all of their patients. “Therapy can support and help them manage or even overcome some of the things they’re challenged with on the nursing side,” she explains.
One of Kimberly’s favorite parts of working at Thrive SPC is the connections she’s made. “Our therapists are just so fun to interact with and they’re a joy,” she says. “But some of the most meaningful connections I have outside the therapists are the patients’ families. When I hear their stories and realize I can be a resource for them, it feels really good.”
Kimberly recalls one phone call with a mother who was looking for therapy for her son. “The mother tells me, ‘He is the most handsome boy that they will ever come across, and he is a joy. I can send y’all some photos.” These special interactions continue to inspire her to work harder so all medically fragile patients in the Fort Worth area have the therapy resources they need and deserve.
Kimberly loves it when she gets to meet new patients and families and reassure them that everyone on the Thrive SPC team works together to help medically fragile children. “I think the best part of my job is knowing, in some small way, I have made a difference in the life of a patient and their family,” Kimberly explains. “That’s what keeps me going, and the favorite part of my job here.”
