Brighton, Massachusetts – Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care, a national provider of clinical home care for medically fragile children, delivered 128 “big green boxes of cheer” to children and families at Franciscan Children’s hospital in Brighton on March 26.
At its first Best Practices conference since the company’s inception in 2016, 65 teammates from all eight states in which the company does business participated in a team-building event with Birmingham, Alabama-based Cheeriodicals last Friday.
Teams built two red wagons to gift to the hospital, in addition to the boxes of age-appropriate toys, snacks, and reading material. The boxes were packed on a truck and delivered to Franciscan, courtesy of Two Men and a Truck Wilmington, a local franchisee of a national company that partners with Cheeriodicals to provide safe, free delivery of the boxes to hospitals. A small group of Thrive employees then joined members of the hospital’s Child Life team to deliver some of the packages directly to children.
Thrive has a simple purpose: to provide high quality clinical home care to medically fragile children so they can grow and flourish to their full potential. It pursues that purpose with a strong set of core values.
“One of our core values is Social Responsibility, which we define as being philanthropic with our time and financial resources to benefit those in need,” explained Thrive’s Chairman, President, and CEO Greg Serrao. “To make this core value real we have established a Social Responsibility Committee that engages with teammates at all our locations to identify meaningful ways we can give back to the communities we serve and strengthen the bonds within our teams and across our growing organization.”
Franciscan has a similar purpose and was a great fit for Thrive in terms of size, according to Ben Deloach, Cheeriodicals’ director of business development and events. Franciscan provides compassionate, personalized, family-focused care and education for children with special health care needs, helping each child find the courage to reach their full potential with integrity and respect.
“This is our first time making a delivery to Franciscan Children’s hospital, and we are very impressed with the facility, the level of patient care provided, and the nursing and Child Life staff we worked with. We are very excited to be partnering with Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care to bring smiles to children and families today,” said Deloach.
Thrive currently provides a range of pediatric equipment, services, therapy, and skilled home care in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
“As a young company, just starting to build our Social Responsibility Committee, it was wonderful to be able to do something so impactful with our colleagues,” said Tricia Duncan, vice president of HR and Organizational Development. “Although our work is with medically fragile children, we do not currently provide care in Massachusetts, so it was nice for our Massachusetts teammates to have some face time with children to remind us why we do what we do each day.”
Employees at Thrive’s Wakefield, Massachusetts office also participated in the Boston Bruins PJ Drive for Cradles for Crayons this month, contributing 55 pair of new pajamas to go to homeless children.
