Learn a little about the program …

Our ABA Therapy program is another service line we offer at Thrive SPC to support families. Not only are we able to go into the home to offer medical support, now we can offer behavioral support too. Our BCBAs, BcaBs, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will be able to work with our nurses and therapists and the families of our medically fragile patients to build better plans of care and help navigate behavioral issues. Our patients and their families will benefit from a more comprehensive approach to care tailored to each child’s individual needs.

ABA is the only scientifically backed intervention method specifically for people on the autism spectrum. As society learns more about developmental disabilities, we are learning that many of the people previously classified as having general learning or developmental disabilities were actually on the autism spectrum. Many more children and adults are being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but the good news is that we have a therapy that can help them integrate into school settings and the community. By providing ABA services, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapies we will be offering later this year, we can make a huge impact on the patients we serve and their families.

Zach is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and successful ABA story himself! With more than six years of experience in the field in the Denver Metro area, Zach joined the Thrive SPC team in 2021 to help us build a successful ABA program. Here’s his story in his own words.

“Put simply, I was constantly in trouble as a teenager. After much frustration associated with hanging with the wrong crowd and being unable to change my behavioral patterns as a young adult, I decided to seek out answers. While spiritual solutions like yoga, backpacking, and music were all intriguing and even helpful, I realized I had to put one foot in front of the other to get anywhere. I discovered behavior analysis and was able to transform my life and get rid of unhealthy habits that were holding me back. I willed myself into a better version of me. Through an extensive education, I reinvented myself with the help of behavioral science and chose to use this same science that changed my personal life to help others.

Since choosing this path, I have seen countless people make tremendous progress in their own lives. Nothing has been more fulfilling in my life to this point. As a behavior analyst, I enjoy the challenge of helping clients find the motivation necessary to make concrete changes and improvements. From helping clients with developmental disabilities to helping friends change their dietary, exercise, and sleep routines, I am recharged by seeing successful changes being made by others and am eternally grateful for discovering a path where I can be helpful to the world around me.

There are no words to express the gratitude I feel when a parent shares that they never thought their child would speak or have friends or be in a regular classroom. I look forward to helping many Thrive SPC families have this same kind of hope and joy.’ ”
