Respiratory Care

Intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV) is a form of chest physical therapy administered to the airways by a pneumatic device. Using a breathing circuit called a Phasitron, mini bursts of gas are delivered into the lungs at rates between 100 – 300 breaths per minute (bpm). These mini bursts of air gently loosen secretions deep in the lung branches and help clear them from the airway. IPV is used for a variety of pediatric pulmonary conditions.
